Hi, I’m Rachel.

I am a writer, dramaturg, and arts administrator with 16 years’ experience in Canadian arts and culture. As a playwright and performer, director and company leader, my core desire is to tell a good story - and to help others do the same.

In my plays and prose, I strive to explore complex issues with humour and curiosity. My work has been seen across North America. I was selected for The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Playwrights Lab in 2017 and inaugural Slaight Theatre Creation Residency in 2023. In 2018, I was awarded the Sydney J. Risk Prize for Outstanding Original Script by an Emerging Playwright. I am a part of Simon Fraser University’s 2024/25 Fiction Cohort through The Writers’ Studio.

As a dramaturg, I work collaboratively with playwrights to advance and clarify the stories they are trying to tell. As an administrator, I am an expert grant and copy writer - distilling organizational priorities into clear narratives with a strong voice.

I served as Artistic Director of Vancouver’s acclaimed Green Thumb Theatre for three years, shepherding the company through pandemic challenges and recovery. I currently serve as Fundraising Director for The Chop Theatre.

Whether you’re interested in my creative writing, looking for help with your own, or seeking assistance with grants or other copy - get in touch, and let’s tell a story together.
